Here Is How I Fixed My Amazon Seller Suspension

Below you will find the email exchange I had with Amazon before they reinstated my account.

1) On 1 Jan 2019, I got this email from Amazon:

“Hello,

During a quality assurance review of your catalog we found that you have published books with misleading content. Here are some examples of the books you have uploaded.

Title:  Girl, Wash Your Face: Stop Believing the Lies…

These books have the potential to mislead or defraud our customers and, as a result, we are terminating your account and your Agreement effective immediately.

As part of the termination process, we will close your KDP account and the related CreateSpace account (if any) and remove the books you have uploaded through our channels from sale on Amazon. Note that you are no longer eligible to receive unpaid royalties for sales that occurred prior to this termination.

Additionally, as per our Terms and Conditions, you are not permitted to open any new KDP and/or CreateSpace accounts.

2) I replied on the same day like this:

“Hi,

I confirm that I have read and will comply with the Content Guidelines [https://kdp.amazon.com/self-publishing/help?topicId=A2TOZW0SV7IR1U] and [https://kdp.amazon.com/self-publishing/help?topicId=A294SHSUYLKTA6], and that I will remove any books that mislead customers or violates the content guidelines.

It was a mistake on my part and I will comply with the Content Guidelines from now on. Requesting to reinstate my kdp account please.

Regards,

3) Amazon’s reply from kdp-account-status@amazon.com on 1 Jan 2019 was like:

“Hello,

We’ve reviewed the information you provided and we are upholding our previous decision to terminate your account and remove all your books from sale on Amazon.

As a result, we will not be reinstating your account.

Please note that, per our Terms and Conditions, you are not permitted to open new accounts and will not receive future royalty payments from additional accounts created.

4) On the same day 1 Jan 2019, I gave the following email to ecr-kdp@amazon.com:

“Hi Amazon Team,

First of all, congratulations on having an awesome 2018. Congratulations on taking Amazon to new heights. And wishing a happy New Year 2019!

I am a self-publishing author with Amazon KDP.

My Issue:

My KDP account has been terminated on the New Years day due to publishing books with misleading content. My account email homezenithinfo@gmail.com.

I got this email from Amazon:

“Hello,

My Account History:

My account has been doing well for the last two years with the following stats:

My Account’s Royalties for the Last Two Years
Marketplace Royalties
US 90,000 in USD
UK 51,000 in GBP
EUR 25,000 in EUR

That is $180,000 royalties earned in an average of $7,500 per month. I am happy to let you know that I have helped Amazon earn $630,000 in the last two years and hopefully much much more in future if you grant me a reinstatement of my account.

My Action Plan:

I will comply with the Content Guidelines [https://kdp.amazon.com/self-publishing/help?topicId=A2TOZW0SV7IR1U] and [https://kdp.amazon.com/self-publishing/help?topicId=A294SHSUYLKTA6], and I will remove any previously published books that do not meet these guidelines.

Amazon’s understanding of Content Guidelines is far better than myself, so if I am confused about anything, I will reach out to Amazon first before proceeding with it.

All in all, I will never willingly violate any content guidelines in future.

My Humble Request:

Requesting to reinstate my account so that I can contribute to the success of Amazon just like I have been doing for the last two years contributing in generating $630,000 profit for Amazon.

All the Best and Wishing a Very Happy New Year 2019.

Regards,
5) For the next two days, I didn’t get any reply from Amazon. So, on 3 Jan 2019, I forwarded the previous email to ecr team with the following portion added:

“Hi KDP team,

Requesting for your looking into my issue and to reinstate my account please.

Regards,

6) On 4 Jan 2019, I got the following reply from kdp-account-status@amazon.com from Amazon :

7) My reply on 4 Jan 2019 was:

“Hi,

Thanks for your reply. Requesting a human intervention in my case.

I don’t understand how the book in question is violating any content guidelines so much so that the account is terminated.

My account hasn’t had any other issues whatsoever in the last two years. I haven’t had any issues with other books whatsoever.

Most of my books are paperbacks relating to children’s drawing book such as- how to draw Pokémon, how to draw anime, farting Pokémon coloring book etc.

Also, I have best sellers on user manuals of Amazon’s products such as Amazon Echo Dot user manual, Amazon Echo user manual, 933 Funniest Things to Ask Alexa etc. These are output of years of hard work and resulting royalties from Amazon is my only source of income. I am at dire straits now after losing the account without a clue as to why it happened.

Please re-evaluate and reinstate my account. Requesting not to give a canned response. Please let a human executive look into the case.

If you need to contact me, please call.

Regards,

And I haven’t heard back from Amazon till now. I have emailed several times after that, but haven’t got any reply as of now.

My Observations:

To be honest, I don’t have any clue how my book was misleading. I have been publishing on Amazon for three years. My paperbacks were with Createspace since November 2016. It never had any issue. My Createspace account was merged into KDP in October 2018. Then after three months, I got this suspension.

With regards to the book ” Girl, Wash Your Face: Stop Believing the Lies…”, it has been on Createspace from 21-Oct-2017 and hasn’t faced any issues ever since until it was transferred to KDP. Had I been warned ahead, I would definitely have understood the issue and rectified the issue or removed the title.

In summary:

– My account has only one issue on misleading content in 50+ clean titles in the account
– No copyright issues
– No customer complaint
– No public domain content issues
– No explicit content
– No other issues in 2 years with Createspace Account
– The particular book in question hasn’t had any warning regarding misleading content from Createspace during it’s publication period of one and a half years ( it has been there from 21 Oct 2017).

One January 1st, I had a warning from KDP. However, my account was reinstated. Did Amazon also suspend your seller account? Leave a comment below.
